Art Valley was founded by Karlyn Benson in 2020 to promote art and culture in New York’s Hudson Valley region. Karlyn was recently Interim Curator and Exhibitions Manager at The Dorsky Museum at SUNY New Paltz. Previously she was Director at Fridman Gallery, Beacon, NY and Exhibitions Director at Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild – Kleinert/James Center for the Arts in Woodstock, NY. She was the owner/director of Matteawan Gallery in Beacon, NY from 2013 to 2018. Since 2018 she has been assisting artists with writing and marketing through Karlyn Benson Creative Consulting. Karlyn has worked in museums and galleries for over twenty years, including six years in the Registrar Department at The Museum of Modern Art. She holds an MA in Art History from the University of Texas, Austin and a BA in Art History from SUNY Purchase. Karlyn lives in Beacon, NY with her husband the artist Greg Slick and their dog Jack.
